What is National Children’s Dental Health Month?? Dentist and dental offices all over the United States use the month of February each year to place and extra focus on the dental and oral health of CHILDREN. When we help our children develop good habits at an early age and visit the dentist regularly, they get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. Prevention and early detection of problems always offers the best treatment for any health issue. Also, as children are becoming more involved in sports at a younger age, it is a very good idea to provide your budding athlete with a “sports mouth guard” to help protect their teeth. Once the baby teeth have fallen out, your child only gets one set of permanent teeth! Talk to Dr. Barton about a custom fitting mouth guard for children and also for adults.
We have provided some fun coloring pages for children, sponsored by the American Dental Association. Visit our “Patient Forms” link (above). We encourage you to download and print these pages for your children to color. It will help familiarize them with good oral care practices, in a fun way. It is important to remember to brush and floss at least twice a day, make appointments for your children to visit the dentist at least twice a year, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables in place of sugary and pre-packaged snacks. Happy February and KEEP SMILING!!!
